Yay! The weather has finally started to warm up in Ottawa -- it was around 10 C today, which helped the five or so feet of snow begin melting... Hopefully it will be nice by the end of the month, but I definitely recommend bringing a jacket!
Here are some suggestions for things to see and do if you will be in Ottawa for a few days:
This past Sunday, yet another very snowy day in Ottawa, I started setting up a wedding registry at The Bay. We're planning to add dishes, cutlery, etc. to this one (although we don't have much listed on it yet).
On a different note, thanks to everyone who has contributed song ideas for the reception! Looks like it should be an interesting evening... we'll be submitting our list of choices to the DJ company at the end of March (but they promise to take requests during the dance as well).
If anyone gets lost on the way to the wedding, it's not my fault :) Check out the excessive cartographic action here. Multiple maps if you just keep clicking!
Well, we have finally started a wedding registry. Visit www.sears.ca to see the listing (click on 'gift central' then the wedding registry section or search for either of our names here: Registry page).
The DJ is booked! I will be able to hand in a music selection (maybe on iPod, probably on CD) for the dinner portion of the night, and then the wedding dance craze begins! I hear there are people who want to do some swing, some foxtrot, maybe some slow dancing, and Fiona reports that she wants cheesy wedding music. Put in your requests before the evening gets too full!
It will be... a mystery for now! Fiona went with her folks and bought a dress today, but apparently I can't see it yet :)
Just booked a photographer - she's done weddings at Blessed Sacrament and the NAC, and her sample photos from both were gorgeous! Lots of downtown Ottawa locations in the galleries too:
Fiona picked up her engagement ring today - it was getting resized and also fitted to her wedding band. Here it is! Along with the engagement half of my puzzle ring (aka love knot :) which will have a yellow-gold band that fits into it.

Important! I've created a menu survey - it's easily the most non-traditional survey ever! Choose your favourite and see what other people have voted for.
(DISCLAIMER! This menu survey is a) for entertainment purposes only, b) entirely non-binding, and c) intended to gauge the general likes and dislikes of attendees. The NAC catering service cannot provide all options to everyone on the big day. Wedding invitations (coming soon to a mailbox near you!) will let you mark allergy information and vegetarian preference, and we will confirm all of that by speaking to you personally!)
We booked the Panorama room at the NAC today!
Fiona and I took the afternoon off today and went ring-shopping - with good results! Previous trips to big stores revealed... crappy options that didn't suit us! It all came down to the personal touch:
Pictures soon! Fiona's is in the store to get re-sized.
Today, Fiona booked the 1:30 slot on April 26 at Blessed Sacrament!
Check these links to see how it all started (sort of).
Don't be fooled! Photoshop exists, as does the wily trickery of the human mind. (In other words, be sure to check the link that says "How far did we really travel?" There's some important information contained on that page - it might blow your mind.)
